Sansui 9500...

I got these tiny dudes out 2 yrs ago thinking thev gone bad or something after reading a forum thread that these are failure prone . I didnot notice any gross improvement after replacement with local ones . However the amp was in need of recap back then which i did .

Now my tech has my 9500 for a few of the left over project from last year. He wants the leestereo mods fully done to its pre amp. Which includes the use of film caps .
He also wants these back in .
Any comments if these would do a remarkable improvement ???? They are from the driver section if im not wrong .

I strongly recommend you don't re-install any 2SC1124 // 2SA706 or 2SC1628 // 2SA818 pairs into the AU-9500, no matter where they have come from, they are unreliable.

There are modern equivalents which perform much better, discussed here on AK many times.

(mainly with reference to AU-9900 and AU-11000 where they are also used).

Your tech should be able to explain why he feels re-installing the originals is worth it. I'd be very interested to hear his rationale!
