Sansui AU-717 and Ashcraft Tube preamp

What should I expect to pay for a "fully restored and recapped with Nichicons and Sprague orange gumdrops in the driver boards" Sansui AU-717. Guy also has an Ashcraft dual chassis tube preamp, with 6SN7 signal tubes and 5AR4 rectifying tubes. He says the Sansui is worth $700 and the Ashcraft is hard to put a value on but he'd say $500.

As far as the AU717, I can give my own personal opinion. I would rather pay $200-$250 for one that hadn't been touched, and put the additional $500 (if that's what it takes) in a rebuild from a competent tech that will stand behind his work. There are too many people out there with a whole different definition of a rebuild.

I bought an unmolested AU/TU717 combo with an SC1330 tape deck for $225 some years back. I'm currently using it, but I know it needs to be freshened up any day now. At that price, I don't mind paying to have it worked on.
