Sansui G-6000 Dead Phono Inputs

When I connect my Micro Seki DD-20 it is absolutely dead on Phono 1 and Phono 2. I checked the TT through my Marantz 2325 and it is OK there.

Further de-oxed selector switch contactors and not even a buzz, click or hum...stumped...at this stage it appears to me that there is a fault on the input board...what do you think?

You can use an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the switches, if they are okay then you will have to look at the power supplies to the phono amp section, if they are okay then you can check the bias of the phono pre-amp stage. having both channels out suggests a power supply issue.

the g series have automatic ground contacts on the phono inputs so that you don't need the grounding plugs that we see on earlier models but you do need to ensure you're pushing the connectors all the way home to lift the ground contact...

Could be a problem with the selector switch itself. I had a problem with mine where even though I was turning it to "Phono" the switch inside wasn't actually engaging. Something to do with the wafers. I don't recall entirely, but I bet someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I found the problem I had: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/g-6000-selector-switch.540758/

And here's a thread with a picture of your selector switch and describes the same problem I had: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/sansui-g7000-wont-change-inputs-from-fm-tuner.720395/

Thank you guys, I will surely check the phone plug penetration and, specifically, the selector switch extended spindle...might be a day or two before I get at it because I'm just friggin knackered right now when I get home from continuous 12 hour days. I really appreciate your help and concern. Will report back in a few days... :)
