Sansui integrated as a pre-amp

Ok so I’ve broadened my music experience a tad. I want to use my AU9500 and AU999 as pre-amps in two different systems with tube amps. I’m know I can use the pre-outs, so do I remove the jumpers and plug the RCA jacks into them? On the 999 it has a pre amp selection I believe, I’m not in front of it as I type this. Then I can use all sources I have plugged into the Sansui? ie; tape, TT, Aux. If I’m correct on this I do not need the Sansui powered on, only the tube amp? Sorry for the obvious to some, questions, but I haven’t done this and don’t want smoke

I've never personally played around with separating them, as I understand it - you have to remove jumpers AND on the 999 select speaker C where it says (pre & main separated)

That’s what I thought. My 9500 does not have a way to separate pre from main, I’m guessing once the jumpers are removed it’s “separated “.
