The May file update is posted. Added about 70 new serial numbers this month and now have over 6,000 serial numbers on file. Every new serial number improves the database.

The May update is posted. 80 new serial numbers this month along with two new previously unlisted models. I've also been able to tie in the Equipment Type for the first time. Check it out!. The actual file is posted in digital docs. You can access it there or with the links in the first post in this thread or the first post in the 2017 Database Thread.

When you look at the serial number data please look for production date errors. There are a number of models that are a decade off. For example, the model may have been produced in the 1970s but the production date is showing the 1980s. Over the next few weeks I'm going to list decade references I believe are incorrect so we can get many of these decade errors corrected.

Nice Pete, I've just had a little scan through ;)

The entries for AU-607 are interesting. :)

That's exactly the kind of thing I want to find and fix. To extract the date code from the serial number, a "decade" reference is needed for each model. When Paul created this database in 2003 there wasn't much background information available on some of the more obscure models. As a result, many of the decade references were assigned based on an educated guess. Paul was a good guesser and the vast majority of the decade references are correct.

Looking at the AU-607s on file, there seems to be two errors, according to Audio-Database.com, it was introduced in 1976. I suppose it's possible that production continued into the the 1980s but it's unlikely. Looking at the three indicating 1980 production, I'll claim one of those. 228050310 indicating 1988 production was entered last month. I should be 1978. The other two showing 1980s production were entered into the database in 2005 so it's unlike we will get any background information on them.

That said, keep pointing out discrepancies whenever you find them.

On a different note, edgebar, I recorded your serial numbers.

Hey Pete, can you post the serial number break point for the Sansui EIGHT relay vs non-relay that you have so far?
    Thanks
    Bob
