Sanyo TP 1005 turntable platter does not spin

Hi. I bought a Sanyo TP 1005 turntable for Ebay a few weeks ago. The TT was well packed. When I took it out of the box I noticed the platter did not spin. The belt is brand new. The servo motor does work but it does not make the platter turn. The platter itself does not move freely. It seems to be stuck somehow. Any ideas of what can I do to make it work?

The service manual is on vinyl engine and the exploded diagram on page 6 shows the platter shaft M12. Problem could be a seized bearing. Might just be hardened/congealed lubricant.

If it were me, I'd pull off the platter and as long as there is no plastic in the immediate area, hit the spindle with a heat gun.

Might also be something jamming the the auto-return cam gear.
