    Hello,
I have a Pioneer SX-650 the speakers sound scratchy (checked speaker wires) sprayed cleaner on volume knob no change still scratchy. The thing is when I listened through the headphones everything sounds fine. Don't use that much but was working good every time I turned it on. Same thing when I play cassette deck or phono scratchy speakers and clear headphones. Was thinking the amplifier might be going south but then found it to be nice and clear in headphones. Any help appreciated.

Unit off, gently press on the woofer cone, do you hear it rubbing?

no rubbing sounds the same scratchy in both speakers but only at low volume. Like if you listening but don't want to bother someone in the other room level. When I turn it up above that level it clears up. Both speakers react the same. So I guess basically I have low-level distortion. Weird...
    Thank you for answering

When it's acting up, give it a good slap on the side and see if anything changes.
