Should I variac this MC-250?

I have an MC-250 that I allowed to sit unused for about 9 months (I told myself I wouldn't do this). Should I variac the unit to bring it back to service? Since I do not have one, is there a particular unit I should obtain for this? I figure it would be a good time to get one.

The 250 should be OK with a direct power up, if you had said 5 years I would say variac, but 9 months on a power supply with 40V rails should not be a problem.
