I think I’m in love. What an amazing amp!

Here's my recently acquired 661. I intercepted it from the Salvation Army donation area last week when I was making a donation. It was filthy with cigarette tar, 2 dial lights were out, and it had a significant hum on all inputs with no volume.

I cleaned it all up, replaced some lamps, reflowed a couple cold solder joints, removed a partially melted 45 record adapter from one of the emitter resistors, another emitter resistor was melted to the connector to the driver board so I freed it up and gently bent it away from the connector.

Finally, I removed the driver board and cleaned up the contacts and reseated it. This took care of the hum. I must say I'm impressed at the sound coming from this little 20 watter, it sounds great with plenty of bass and clarity.

The x901 gets the most of my time. Looking for a ampselector (opposite of a speaker selector) ...
Love the 3! Same, same but different.

Oh and recently picked up some lm220, quite good.
And not dissimilar to jbl L36 or L40, the tweeter is more open though, but not beaming

I almost sold my 9090DB because at some point this hobby should pay me back. After a weekend of listening while offers came in I considered myself an idiot and pulled the ad.

She needs some love but she's mine.

It's one fine classic. I'm partial, because I bought the 8080DB new in 1975 and have loved the sound and aesthetics ever since.

Back in the early 2000's when my son was college shopping, we took the 3 hour drive to Chico to check out the campus (he later got accepted to Cal Poly). I looked on CL the day before and spotted an 8080DB for $65.

It does daily duty in my warehouse.

Really nice stuff! What cartridge/stylus do you have on your FR 4060?

This guy introduced me to Sansui and now I’m hooked. It’s outperformed several other 70’s receivers I’ve had from other brands, so I’ve decided to move up the Sansui chain.

    Minty AU-101 recapped by a fellow AK’er

I have a re-capped au-101 as well, superb lil performer, such an un-fatiguing sound.
Hard to let go of it even though I have bigger/later model Sui...
