'They" used to say that Sony stuff was bright because the Sony engineers designed their receivers to play music from the east, not the heavy stuff from the west.

New Sony speakers tend to have supertweeters and they push hi-res digital files.

I appreciate that high frequency clarity in my Sony HA-1ES speakers over my Spendors but I'm keeping the Spendors and selling the Sonys for other reasons.

My 2nd system (office/spare room) is becoming an ES collection

GX800ES with a CA70ES. Neither are ultra rare, but the GX800 has programable inputs and is 2ohm stable in stereo!

    IMG_12521.jpg
Speakers are 4ohm Mission Argonaut's (excuse the car parts under wrap).

All items were 2nd hand/thrift, and cost me a whopping $150 total.

Great find, I think those speakers were about $1800 Canadian when I used to sell them!

Wish it had more power, but can't complain for what I paid. I do like the removable "stealth" faceplate.

    Pse4000 underway. It doesn’t have a tonearm, but I have a pua1500s.

Who has experience with a technics epc205mk3 or a monster genesis 2000 on this arm?
As I understand the monster cartridges are distant family of the Sony Mc cartridges.

I will post some pictures as soon as I have it.

    Regards

I picked this beast up a little under a year ago as non-working for a fantastic price. With the generous help of local audiokarma member @Ray Gianelli , we finally got it running. It looks and sounds great, a huge step up from the TA-N55ES I was using. I still can't believe I own the Sony flagship I've lusted after for years and years

Quick picture after setting up. I will take better ones once I reorganize everything and clean up a bit

My STR-6065 from 1971, 50 watts. Good unit. I'm going with this for my old Sony.
