Show your JBLs off

What can I say? Worked for a JBL dealer that sold those models in the late '70s and they really got under my skin. Only itch there I haven't scratched is something in a larger 43xx model - once had a pair of 4315 set up in my living room for a weekend party that I really liked too, but they were beyond my pay grade back then. Probably just as well, the retired couple upstairs would have flipped out if they'd stayed.

Don't ignore the 44xx models either...

I have a good feeling these will be my primary speakers for quite som time :)

For sure.

I've owned 4401's (also the equivalent L15) but wasn't overly impressed. A nice pair of 4411 would be cool but I do have the L112 in terms of a system in that size range. The other 44xx? Maybe... but I think I'd start with 4312A or 4312B, or as mentioned any of the larger 43xx models. Not that the later 4410/4412 etc. and the 4425/4430/4435 aren't fine speakers in their own right, but they're just outside my admittedly narrow timeframe for "JBL models I once drooled over".

I had some 4312E`s for a short period of time (but pulled the trigger on the 4319 in the end), I really liked them but did not get to break them in properly. Out of the box they sounded...like tincans. But wow they really flowered only after a very short period of time.

JBL's currently in the listening rotation: 4430's, 4425's and 4408's.

Lancer 44's, J2050's and Servo Sub still in the back room.

Posts going back more than 9 years, but only two with L50's? Heck, we can make it at least three. ;)

My L50's I bought new in '79. I've refoamed them, resanded and re-oiled (tung) and also pulled the cat-clawed brown fabric off and replaced it with the blue.

Some photos I took during the process, including the end result.

Wow some serious eye candy! I got my 4312's when I was still in active duty back in 87 time frame, the 4311's I just got them last year from its original owner who bought them in 83 when he was in the Navy.
