~~Simi's "Song A Day" thread~~

Monday Feb 28th.

What a sad day. The last known living WWI vet has died... He was 110 years old and lied about his age to get into the war. He went in as an ambulance driver.

Kind of hard to think of songs about WWI, but then again, Just think Iron Maiden, and they sing about a lot of battles and wars..

Here's a great video.. Iron Maiden - Paschendale http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c20-fm_WNew

RIP Mr. Frank Buckles. We thank you for your service!

I wonder how my Great-Grandfather(a WWI vet, not to mention Boer War vet) would feel about people giving tribute to WWI vets with an Iron Maiden song? Judging by the stories I've read about the crazy, tough bugger, I bet he'd love it.:music:

Wow. Epic vid. That was great.

Made me realise my lack of Maiden. I don't have any. Need to fix that!

Very cool vid. I was never a fan, but had a couple of headbanger friends who were. They never were able to persuade me, but vids like that may. Thanks for sharing it.

Wow,similost, I am really enjoying the diversity your pulling out of the bag here,
this is fast becoming my favourite thread.
Cheers, Timo.

LOL.. Thankfully no.. I forgot the melody to Freddie.. that's not fun going through your head all day.. LOL..

I was a big Iron Maiden fan since way back when they first started out..

I used to work in a nightclub in Lubbock TX, and I also worked the local crew at the arena.. .I got luck one night and Steve and the boys came in (Steve has alwas been one of my favorite bass players.. I learned to play a lot of their tunes years ago on bass)

Anyway, they came into town a day early and the club and I got to meet them.. Super great guys..

Worked the show the next day and got to meet Eddie.. the giant one.. they kept him in a box... VERY cool... Damn fine show too!
