SM112's

I just finished re-building a set of SM112's that I picked up at an estate
sale and am very pleasantly satisfied with the outcome. I had read a lot of
slightly negative commits about their bass and was thinking about lining the
cabinets with fiberglass but am re-thinking that now as they seem great as
they are. Guess it depends on the type of music one listens to, I listen to
mostly country (Conway, Tammy, Alabama and etc.) but am sure grand kids
will have other ideas when they are here.
If any one has any expierence with the 112's and has any thoughts on adding
the fiberglass, I'm all ears, don't want to spin my wheels.

Hey there Rob,

Welcome to the Infinity forum man. You should enjoy your stay on AK...it's great place with great people, and can help you on your audio journey.

Yeah, the SM's don't seem to get much respect. I've never heard them myself, but glad to hear you are pleased with yours. In the end, that is what matters...that you like what you have and hear

There is always better gear out there, no matter what you have. Tweaking is always fun too. That's where you really learn about this stuff. There are threads on the SM's in here, or perhaps even on the Speaker forum. Do some searching. I recall a member that has done cabinet mods and whatnot to improve this series of speaker.

But then, in a few years time you'll have some IRS V's (or at least really lusting after a pair :D ) and these SM's will be ancient history.

and study this site in great detail
