I discovered this guy on http://www.garageband.com/song?|pe1|S8LTM0LdsaSkZlewY2w a few weeks ago. I like the song he has there so much I violated my rule of buying a cd on the strength of one song. Boy, am I glad I did.
When Smiling Jack sings it seems he is channeling Louis Armstrong. I am really impressed with his ability to sing with vibrato even at the low point of his singing range. Excellent drumming on this cd, a little jazz fill here and there to keep things interesting. Then there is the guitar playing. Very skillful, but no show off "Hey, look what I can do" solos.
