It played one disc, sounded terrific, then stopped working. It was free, so there's that, but I really like these players. Had one back in the day, loved the sound.
Unfortunately, same thing killed it. Load the disc, it reads the disc, but mash "play" and it can't read the first track. I can hear something going on in the unit but no joy.
I've read that there are problems with the spindle motor and a motor that drives the laser's "sled."
Any way to fix this, or should I hand it over to the recyclers?
I don't want to spend the money on a new CD player, and I've never liked the sound of DVD players-as-CD-players. New players are too expensive for what I need.
