Hi just picked up a pair of Sony Speakers in excellent condition very cheaply, but there is a faulty tweeter,it is showing an open circuit when testing with a meter which might suggest a break in the voice coil.
Is it possible to open it up and check for a break,if not what would be a good match to replace it with.

cheers Stuart.

Tweeters can sometimes be repaired. Usually the break occurs where the lead connects to the coil itself. The usual fix is to disassemble (I don't see any screws, they're probably behind the black foam circle on the front), then unwind one revolution of wire and resolder. Before you do anything I'd search this forum for tweeter repair and also try to find some pictures to show you how it's done.
