anyone know if this one looks ok for a 2nd system. i'm looking to pick it it up for $125 off a classified. says it works fine, comes with remote and original box.

i just want something to replace my now gone JVC that had some center channel problems. i see it has a PHONO, which will come in hand.

I have the 845 in my HT system and I like it. It's not the newest/best/biggest or anything but gets the job done quite well. Initial setup can be a bit of a pain with mine, but I don't know how the 898 differs there. It has decent sound but I rarely use it for 2ch listening. There are enough features to get lost in but once I get it setup I rarely change anything. Mine doesn't do any video conversion which makes some things a little more cumbersome in the cabling.

For that price as a 2nd system I'd say go for it.

yeah, it's gonna be out living rooms system upstairs where the kids sleep etc, so i don't need a heavy duty system. we won't have an HD TV up there either. the main system will be in the basement.

thanks for the info. i know sony isn't the best for a/v receivers, but for $125 i can't go wrong. and if i don't like it, i'm sure i can sell it on a used site for the same or more.
