If you go to your local hardware store, Home Depot or Lowe's you can buy some rubber bottle stoppers that'll work perfectly as reel retainers. You just have to drill a hole a little smaller that the reel table spindle right in the middle of the rubber stopper and it will hold the reel on with friction. You don't even have to drill the hole all the way through, just deep enough for the stopper to push in against the reel. I find it helps to line up a metal washer the same diameter as the stopper to use as a guide for finding the center to drill the hole. You can also buy reel retainers on eBay if you don't want to make your own, a few sellers make new ones.
