It seems all of the replacement foam surrounds are the same stuff. Thick, stiff and heavy compared to what was easily obtained a few years ago. For a set of 10" woofers I've been looking for super soft foam, or even rubber surrounds. It;s important on these woofers that I replace with the closest possible to the original material, as they are in a critical vented alignment.
Anyone know of a source for this better quality surround? It's a little like the problem you encounter when trying to replace the surrounds on vintage Boston Acoustics woofers. Yes, standard surrounds FIT, but the don't smoothly flow to the cone the way that Andy P. designed them, and they will cause some response problems at the upper end which were not there with the originals. As a matter of fact, something like the old Boston surrounds would be fine for my use to.
