speaker distortion part 2

What would cause distortion if it's not the driver? I took out what i thought was a bad midrange/ tweeter in my pioneer CS-33a's and put it in the other speaker cabinet and it worked fine. I then took the driver that i had just replaced and put in back in the original cabinet and it has distortion. therefore there must be something in the wires, x-over etc. any ideas?

Just guessing, and I'm sure more knowledgable folks will chime in later, but it's probably a bad cap in the crossover.

either that, or test your amp, see if thats the problem.

definitely not in the amp. it tried other speakers and encountered no problems at all. Also, it appears the distortion is only in a certain frequency range.
