The Epos 11, I believe 15", great sounding, wood finish. There are several Epos models around that size.

I too thought about laying them down - depends upon where these are going to sit. Stands, bookshelves, ?
What about those Andrew Jones designed Pioneers from awhile back? Do they still sell those? Pretty good for a low-medium budget speaker.

The AR 4a (and ax) are about as good looking as a speaker gets. Nice wood, nice cloth and badge, and lovely proportions. Pretty good sound for a small speaker, also. I want serious bass, so every time I get a pair, I intend to keep them, and then don't -- eight inch woofers don't quite make it. But Judy Collins liked them, and so do lots and lots of people.
