Been futzing around with the 'fifth element' stereo, the one that got set up in a hurry when I was moving in, then eclipsed and just sat forelornly over there.
I have pulled out the rTr 123's (nice speakers, better for HT, and just not quite a match for stacking with the Advents) and have brought out the Maranzt DS900. Much better sonically as a match for the orig larger Advents. A plus is that the Marantz LOOK a whole lot prettier than the plain, black-vinyl wrapped rTr's.
Based around the very sweet Nikko NR-1015, I've been playing this set a lot the past several days. The Nikko is a very stout 85 wpc. Pleasant bluer-green glow from its lamps. Good-sounding tuner, too.
Kinda neat to just push one button and have stereo!
(No, it won't replace any of the separates' systems.)
