Hell I had a 1970 BMW 2800 CS with factory Blaupunkt cassette deck/ dictaphone.

I think some of us are getting really old:rolleyes:

Those BMWs were great. Loved that car!

1970 equipment

Receivers: Fisher, Pioneer, Marantz, and Macintosh

Turntables: Dual,AR,Garrard, Miracord, and Garrard.

Speakers: JBL, AR

Reel to Reel TEAC,Sony

Above are things I have owned and worked on.

If we move the date to 1971.....

Kenwood KA7002 and KT7000, along with KC6060A Scope and KF8011 DeNoiser.

These photos are pulled from the web because I am not home....But I do have and use these on a daily basis. Took me a few years to hunt down the scope and denoiser locally.

They were not exactly state of the art, but having an MC phono input, and discrete resistors in the tone controls, instead of carbon L pads was pretty cool for the time, and only 'top tier' gear by other manufacturers offered scope or a noise reduction unit.

I bought my KT-7000 in May of 1970. Not that I would consider this gear State of the Art, I really like it and the way Kenwood built it to nest together. And it is very good gear. So it gets a pass in my book and welcome to be in this list...if we had a picture.

State of the Art ... 1970

Audio Research, Stax, Quad ... Acoustic Research .. KLH .. Magnepans if they were there .. Revox .. Studer...Thorens ..

OK who needs to see the receipt? I bought a Dual 1219 in May, 1970.

You guys are saying that a Dual 1219 was.. State of the Art ???
I must have been listening to a different art ..
And FWIW, the Japanese gear was in a very similar position to today's Chinese gear .. and there was still a lot of old Fisher, Harmon Kardon, and Marantz tube gear around ..
The Dual was a cut above a plastic tonearm, but it was an entry level table .. and the Allied catalog wasn't where you looked to find State of the Art ..
