Static on weak stations?

I have a 2252B and 2330B receiver, and on the weaker college jazz station the 52 is as clear as a bell, but the 2330 has a good bit of static. Is this something that goes with the territory of a 2330B vs. a 2252B, or does the 2330B need some type of service? It's been "gone through" when I purchased, but it may need a refresh?

TIA!

Looking at the specifications for the two, the 2330B should be a tiny bit better. I doubt you would be able to tell the difference without good test equipment.
2252B
FM IHF sensitivity 1.9µV
50dB quieting 3.2µV Mono
50dB quieting 40µV Stereo

2330B
FM IHF sensitivity 1.8µV
50dB quieting 3.0µV Mono
50dB quieting 35µV Stereo

Comparing signal strength meter readings and 'static' between the two receivers using the same antenna on strong and weak stations might be interesting.
Another thing you could try is see if there is a big difference between using the 'F' connector and the other methods for attaching an antenna, that might lead you to a bad/lossy path from the antenna input on the 2330B to the tuner section.

Spin the tuning dial back and forth from end to end rapidly about 20 or more times, does it get any better?

How does the strength look on the meter between the two?
