SX-1280: burnt spot on power supply board?

I was at the Dispensary @ T.I. from 1974-76. I was a little crazier than the avg sailor and went Sub's in 76. Ended up in Charleston, S.C. on a Boomer. Charleston back then was the "Mary Jane Rotten Crotch" of the East Coast. Worse than Norfolk.

Dispensary @ T.I? You lost me there...but I have heard stories about MJRC...

You were on a sub? I couldn't do that, so I don't know whether to admire your bravery, fear your insanity, or just feel sorry for you. ;)
I either have claustrophobia, or else a fear of being confined in small places. The jury is still out on that. But I would have lost my mind on a sub! That's one thing I remember telling my recruiter when he asked what type work would I want.
I thought to myself, "I need my space, need a big place to work...HEY! How about aircraft mechanics?"
Even I was bright enough to know that a carrier has more open space in and around it; and that it didn't seem likely to have very many jets aboard a submarine.
If any.
Then I told him what I had just thought to myself.
Based on my testing, I was qualified to go with any other job except nuclear,. Thank God!
But because I had told him my thoughts, Recruiter told me, maybe I should go home and rest a few years.
As good as that sounded to me, I got a little uneasy. I still don't know why.
Sort of confused, I said, "So when can I start?"
Recruiter says, "We'll see! OK, thanks for your interest in the U.S.Navy! Bye bye now!"

Larry, what is a "boomer?"

I got a manual but apparently most part numbers are no longer viable. I don't want to risk substituting parts without confirmation of somebody who would know for sure.

One item listed as obsolete, not available, 512-1N4004.
They show a similar product, 1N4004RLG.

What do you think of that?
Might be close enough to use?
I can't tell. To me, they could be showing me specs for a water buffalo or a cinder block.

863-1N4004RLG is fine. the 512 product (fairchild) line was rolled into the 863 (on-semi) line.
