SX-590, specs?

Hopefully someone here can help me. I have a Pioneer SX-590 (silverface with black dial, wood (faux?) sides). I was under the impression that it was just the black-dial version of the SX-580, but now I'm not sure. My understanding was that the SX-580 was a 20W receiver/amp but the tag on the back of my 590 reads:

Pioneer
Stereo Receiver
Model No. SX-590

AC 120 Volts 60 Hz
80 Watts

Power Electronic Corp.
Made In Republic Of Korea

The serial No. is:

YK3605714Y

I'm not complaining, as it's a very nice sounding unit but I'm confused about the specs. Am I just misinterpreting something?

You are misunderstanding what is written on the receiver. The SX-590 is rated at 20 watts per channel output. The reference on the back of the receiver to 80 watts is input wattage.

Here is another of those "I'm listening to one of those while I type this and it sounds great" posts. I am and it does.

+3 on the INPUT Wattage vs WPC. The 80watts is the TOTAL WATTAGE used by the receiver under Maximum conditions. Works out to .66amps load.
