SX-780 losing FM signal

Hello,

Recently picked up a SX-780, and have been "git r done", with the help of TP - TP thanks again . . .

All the funtions are now working, except the FM will lose it's signal.

A FM station will stay on for a short while (1- 15 minutes) and then the 780 will lose ALL FM stations, if I toggle the selector switch a few times, the FM signal will return - I had previously cleaned the switches (not the tuner section), but perhaps there is still some dirt in one of them.

I thought well, maybe after the 780 gets warm, it loses the FM signal, but after sitting off for the evening, this AM, I tried to get a FM signal, and can't get any, the AM is fine.

Thoughts, comments - are most welcomed!

Hey Ron,

I think you are correct, that it being in the switch . . .

If I toggle the selector switch enough times, FM will return, but won't hold the signal for long, now the FM station is fading in and out . ..

Hey Ron & Todd,

As you predicted, looks like it was in the switches:

This time I took the front panel off, and a number of the screws that held
the FM muting, tape 1 tape 2 switches, as well as the selector switch, and I
gave them all several blasts and toggled the snot of them.

Then continued to toggle the FM selector "fast and furious" kinda grinding to
the left and right and back an forth, not selecting the AM or Phono part of
the selector, kinda grinding the left and side side of the FM selector switch.

A N D - drum roll please:

FM is now holding the signal for a much, much, much longer time, perhaps there was some hardened corrosion in that selector switch. I'll continue to whack the FM selector switch.

In advance, "thanks" to you all . . .
