Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce, bringing back a memory.

Got a bottle of Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce. The Pepper sauce is based on the Jalapeño chili. This is a rather mild sauce which has a nice Jalapeño flavor with a sharp vinegar kick. My mental flavor integrator thought this sauce would be good on Fish-n-chips, in refried beans, perhaps pizza, and spaghetti.

What my memory brought back was the original Taco Salad that Taco Johns had back in the 1970’s. It was very simple, a handful of the chopped lettuce used in their Tacos, some chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, crumpled crispy corn tortillas. That was it. The dressing was also very simple, 1/2 Kraft Zesty Itailian dressing and 1/2 the mild red taco sauce they used at the time. The Tabasco Green Chili sauce tastes very much like that long gone TJ mild red taco sauce with just a bit more vinegar bite. The people at TJ mixed up this salad dressing in house. The TJ salad dressing is also great as a marinate for chicken, pork, beef, and grilled Tuna. You can expriement with other taco sauces to find just the best one for your taste buds. Enjoy!

This is the Kraft Italian dressing Taco Johns used to use. The Zesty Italian is a great marinate all by it's self. On charcoal grilled Halibut, it is the food of the Gods.
