Technics base discoloring

I've found that most Technics (or other turntables) only become "yellowed" from years of exposure to cigarette smoke. Yuk.

Cigarette smoke has also been my experience (on silver Technics' bases)

I had an early system from a smoking household with a yellowed base and speakers with insulation that always smelled a bit (I actually still have those)

I read in another thread that Foaming Bubbles does the trick though I've not yet tried it.

Sometimes that discoloration can be caused by UV exposure, which will permanently discolor some plastics. Cigarette smoke residue is nasty but can usually be removed with a little effort. Again, photos would help.
