I know nothing substantive about this model, and am not much interested in owning it (I already have a modded SL-1200MK2 and a couple other turntables), But the 'in the box' suggests that it might survive shipment to you.
The bidding looks like it could get pricey'.

Yup, it's getting pricey - $101.98 with over 3 days to go. This tt probably works fine now (no belt to crap out), but I'm wondering how much of the 1200MKx mechanism (the only model of this line in current production) is interchangable with the 1700. Automatic tt's in my experience get hiccups with age, and the hiccup effects manual operation way more than it ought to.
