Having some problems with my turntable.
I got a new stylus for it last year, but I don't recall how to adjust the tone arm settings so that it clears the LP without scratching it when the record is over. I looked at the original pamphlet, but can't figure it out. Also, when the stylus drops onto a record, there's a bad crackly sound.
What's going on here, anyone know?
As always, thanks for your help. 20180827_161515.jpg20180827_161520.jpg20180827_161510.jpg

I have a SL-B20 which is similar - mine's a belt drive but otherwise they're mechanically the same.

Turn the black screw you see there on the arm lifter, just left of the anti-skate dial. Left to raise the arm higher, right to make it lower - I think. I've seen some that work the opposite way.

Your crackling sound could be a bad/dirty stylus, a noisy/dirty record or a few other things. When you lower the tonearm with the cue control, does it go down slowly or quickly? It should go down slow. If it were landing hard on the record that could possibly be responsible for the noise you describe.
