TECHNICS SL-PC15 This CD Player Any Good??

    I have a chance to get this cool looking CD player for $20 it looks like a cheap turntable is it a good CD Player??

    IMO all the Technics that have the "Mash" technology sound harsh, with no definition, just what the emerging (cheap) 1 bit technology could do at that time.
    That's one of the reasons why CD's got such a bad reputation originally.

    I had one of these. Picked it up for $10 at a thrift store. It's very plasticky - no weight to it at all. The very definition of BPC. But, it did not sound bad to my ears. I gave it away.

    Did you actually possess a MASH cd player or do you just repeat what's been spread on the Internet? Because what you tell here is nonsense. I have both a MASH CD player from a compact stereo system and an old multi-bit player from 1989 and there's no difference whatsoever sound-wise via (high quality Sennheiser) headphones.
    I guess people believed these kinds of rumors, and this is actually what gave CD the bad reputation. Not the actual sound.
