Technics SL Q200 question change out cartridge?

A few years I found an Audio-Technica AT231LP cartridge NIB. I currently have a Technics SL Q-200 with whatever cartridge it came with from the factory with an Ortofon TM-14 stylus I replaced at some point. Having a little fun I recently did an A/B test against my Pioneer 115 PLD with the factory cartridge and recently replaced stylus. Although the Technics sounds good (good for rock at least) it certainly lacks to detail and openness I have grown accustomed to when listening to the Pioneer, especially with Jazz. The Technics seems to have more lower end and at higher volumes really seems to come alive. I got to looking at the AT Cartridge which on the box says: "plug-in universal mount" It looks like I can unscrew and replace (see pic). Am I correct and if so can I expect better sound like more detail and definition? I hate to break it open otherwise. I am using a Pioneer SX3900. Reciever. Thanks!
