And of course Dick Dale and his very aggressive song 'The Scavenger'. Referencing the Beach Boys..... ' Well I shut down the ho dads in their 409, I was half way down the quarter and they were still on the line....'

Off topic a bit... but Dick Dale... check out the intro to this rift... amazing guitarist, testimony, first play on Fender Stratocaster offered by Leo Fender... Fender broke into uncontrolled laughter and disbelief......

"Pink Cadillac", by Johnny Todd [I think the original version] Great Rockabilly! and possibly a serious candidate here.
Best cover I've heard of "Mercury Blues" goes to Jimmy Thackery And The Drivers.
Who also did an original car related tune called "Doin' 100" that's pretty hot.
Check 'em out, great stuff.

Oh, and how about, Roosevelt Sykes' "Her Little Machine" . . . lotta car talk, but is it about her car?? Mmmm, I don't think so :)
And let's not forget Woodie Guthrie and "Car Car"

Probably not the best car tunes, but I had to give them a note in this thread.

Haha, I see "Hey Little Cobra" by the Rip Chords mentioned! a true Car Tune Era car tune for sure. I'm ashamed I didn't think of it. The lead singer Richie is an acquaintance of mine. He's still around and gets his band together to do shows a few times a year, their hit tune Hey Little Cobra is one of their show favorites.
