The first 2385 I've seen. Guy wants me to go through it, make ready for sale

I just ordered these:
647-LLS2A682MELC, 35mm by 50mm.

They measure a tight fit. Must be the ones you are referring to.

I decided to do up the switches.
I'll usually check one out to determine if they need a deep cleaning.
More time I will spend.;)

Interesting machine to work on. I've never been inside one but hope to someday.

Slide switches from Marantz & Pioneer, probably others, are almost a must for disassembly during servicing. The rails are usually black and need a good burnishing. Yours looks better than many I've seen.

I can't sleep without knowing they are perfect.

The front components are completed and the boards are ready to install.
Not looking FWD to this part.

I restuffed one once.
The new caps "just" fit, back-to-back with lead wires attached.
It was a tight fit.
IIRC, coring the 2385 cans was not tough. The 2500 cans are a pain, but I got a method.
Recently, a heat gun has turned out to be a good friend.

Maybe they have caps now that are slightly shorter.
Luck.

Heat gun and corkscrew work like a charm!!

Putting the front boards back is a pain.
I think you guys mentioned that.
I'm totally worn out from that process. Having some good Kentucky bourbon will help ease the frustrations.

Wish I could join you with that bourbon. Sounds like you earned it! I have to stay away from it for now due to my dieting.

Agreed. I had quite a time with mine.
Real Chinese jigsaw puzzle the first time.
The 2500 is not a problem.

I spent the last four hours fiddling with this monster of menagerie.
First I had the balance and Tuner board molex plugs swapped. Got that fixed.
Then I had only the right channel and found the pins for the forked connectors on the PS00 board bent to the side. Got that fixed.
Man what a turd.

I ended up getting some sleep and in my dreams thought of desoldering the header socket. Attaching it to the forked pins and assembling the two boards, resoldering the header trace pins to the board.
Way easier and you can see the pins on that connector under the power switch.
It goes together like butter. Of course you guys knew that all along
It's still a turd. A really nice sounding turd. It keeps delivering the power, very nice.

Laddie, don't you think you should rephrase that? :D

I began to stuff the big filters and found this:
The one side was hanging on by a thread.

This wasn't that bad. In fact if I had followed my instinct It would of been a walk in the Park. If I had to trouble shoot it, the access would make it one of the easier sets to repair.
I have fallen in love with it. An extremely well built set.
