I got this from my great aunt some 30 year's ago. My brother took the record stand it came with I got the stereo....he thought he got the deal! Just got it out for a bit. What a great vintage sound, so sweet. It has the best Turner I've used pulls stations from far and wide crystal clear.View attachment 1125826
Yes it's all real wood veneer. Mine uses a Pickering V-15 ac 1 cart. No badge on the speaker rear...I have never pulled the cloth grills...and yes it sounds good for what it is. It's been awhile since I have serviced the table, I should check the spindle bearing. I just tore down my Pioneer Pl15D2 and gave it a full lube....the spindle bearing was almost frozen...so much old hard grease. If I remember you can get the table out of the frame of the cabinet. Four Philips head screws on top to get access. Qtips and mineral spirits to remove old lube, may need a soak. I use white lithium grease on some areas and Reel butter Syn. oil in spots, it made for fishing reels, it's super slick and thin...so it will not cause drag from being to viscous. It's a nice vintage piece. And probably the best tuner I have ever used! It pulls stations clear from a great distance it's impressive. I have also use a CD player hooked up to the Aux worked great. I was going to try some different speakers and see how it sounds... haven't done that yet. It's a vintage "The Fisher....with some efficient small speakers it should do well.Looks like yours is actual wood veneer - correct? Is there a Fisher monogram plate on the back of the right speaker? Apparently the A-190 had this feature, but I can't find any sign there was a plate on mine.
I just got one of these for free, but it is vinyl over the particle board case. With some Deoxit on the controls, the tuner is great. I'm kind of shocked how well this pulls in stations. The speakers too are impressive for what they are. Much better sound than I was expecting. I've got the turntable working, but it needs more help. Lot of old grease under there that has gotten very stiff. Any advice on cleaning the TT mechanism?
Here's a picture. I've got the back off for servicing the TT.
