The Fisher xp-56s

I just got a pair of Fisher xp-56s free from a garage sale. I had always heard that the "The Fisher" stuff was better quality than just the regular Fisher stuff, so I decided to take them. I just finally hooked them up to my little Sansui 551, and I think they sound good. I don't know a whole lot about speakers, so am I just hearing things or are these good speakers? How would you describe the sound of these? I'm trying to train my ears. Also, the cabs are in good shape for the most part and I want to clean them up. What would be best to use? They have a very light stickyness to them for some reason, and all I have is Murphy's oil soap, will that do the trick?

This thread will give you more information on Fisher speakers than you'll ever need to know. In general, though, "The Fisher" was used on earlier models and "Fisher" on later ones (possibly corresponding to their purchase by Sanyo in the 19070s; I'm no expert). Most speakers in the Fisher line (earlier and later) aren't too impressive but there are some gems here and there.

For cleaning, it looks like your speakers have standard vinyl veneer, which can be cleaned with a mild soap/water combination. You can probably also use a commercial cleaner like Windex, but I'd try it on the bottom first to make sure it's not too harsh. If I'm wrong and it's actually real wood veneer then obviously this recommendation does not apply.

Edit: the thread I linked to states that these have vinyl veneer.
