The Official *Technics SL-1200* Owners Club

They just wacked the price up to 579 for the 1210.
Looks like I'm out now.

Old_Tech,

You can still get in the game. I posted this for you before in another thread. Newegg.com sells them for $499 all day long (plus shipping). 3 days to ship once order is processed.

Here is the link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882103335

Newegg is a very reputable company. I have bought a lot of stuff from them over the years. Never had any problems.

Hi,

I am in the club as of yesterday.

Picked up an SL-1210MK2 with a Shure M104e complete with all original packaging materials and manual for $130.

Newegg is a good company I have done business with them before.
And still that is a good price.

For peace on mind I would go the Newegg route. :thmbsp:

I second the Newegg recommendation. My friends and i have each ordered from them multiple times and none of us have ever had a problem with them. Everything I have ordered has come in one week or less. My friend had to return something to them as it came DOA, and they took it back no questions asked. I cannot say enough good things about Newegg.

Old Tech.....get the 1210 quick.....it sounds terrific and I have yet to really mess with platforms....

The VTA adjustment is so easy.....simple to "dial in" just what is right for your cartridge.....I did it by ear, of course.

The 1210 is dynamic, holds together during difficult passages and has excellent decay on instruments and vocals.....I never expected this much panache from a DD TT....I would, and will, recommend these highly to people I know who are looking to buy a TT for well under a grand!!!

Luckily I have the Denon 160, the AT440mla and an Ortofon 2m Red to play with on this table!

What he said!

count me in.

had 4, sold two recently.
Still have my pair of sl-1200mkII in black.
My dad is using one.

I occasionally use one with an AT440mla, but my X to the Z Xzibit pimped thorens has been taking precedent lately.

great table.

It worked!

I removed that extra weight plate and dialed down my tone arm height, tracking at 1.4 - all inner groove issues I was having are gone and I was listening to a very demanding Sarah Brightman Phantom of the Opera 2 LP set just to put it through paces and holy what a difference.

It's perfect now and yes - I see what you mean about the bass with the tonearm dialed down to make the 440 sit back a bit.

Thanks very much for taking the time to punch out that advice.

Cheers!!

too late for Newegg

Wow. Mine was not the last one but it must have been close. That link showed in stock when I posted it here

Amazon.com still has some at $499 on up. Only problem with them is most stuff is through a 3rd party vendor. Prices fluctuate dramatically sometimes.

1210M5G here: http://www.amazon.com/Technics-SL-1210MK5G-Pro-DJ-Turntable/dp/B0000CE6R4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1242161301&sr=8-3

Amazon has the other 1200 models as well. Just search "technics"
