The Rutles

Eric Idle's brilliant documentary spoof film about the Rutles, a cleverly written parody to the history of the fab four, aired last night on City-TV 57 in Toronto. This is a must see movie for any Beatle fan and the companion album "The Rutles" which I have is also a must-get treasure. Very, very well done! Features great hits from "Let it Rot", "Tragical History Tour", Sgt. Rutter's Darts Club Band", etc. Great songs like "All You Need Is Lunch", "W.C. Fields Forever",etc. Featured appearances of Michael Palin, Mic Jagger, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, etc.

Brilliant and funny. Three thumbs up.

And don't forget this little collection of new old songs, modestly called "The Best Album Ever Recorded" on the Rutles website.

Classic stuff !

You are absolutely right about The Rutles!

For a real treat, watch The Rutles and then watch a Hard Day’s Night.

Neil Innes is truly under appreciated, and speaking of someone else who is truly under appreciated, check out Martin Newell. Beautiful pop melodies, coupled with insightful lyrics.

This is a rare commodity in this day of Boy Bands and Belly Button Rock.

And while speaking of great British humour, let us not forget the Pythons, Fawlty Towers, Black Adder, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry as Jeeves and Wooster, and the Goon Show, all truly wonderful stuff.
