I'm looking for a used powerful 7 channel Amp and thought on B&K Reference 7270 Series II.

B&K 7270 Reference II Specs
Continuous Power Output
200 watts RMS x 7 @ 8ohm
375 watts RMS x 7 @ 4ohm
Amperage: 75
Damping Factor @ 50hz: 450
IM Distortion: 0.09%
THD Rating: 14v/
S/N Ratio (Average Weighted): 95Db
2100W
Made in USA

Original price in 2001 = $3,298

Quick questions:

1-How much is the Amp worth it today and considered as a good deal?

2-In other words what would YOU pay for a fully functioning B&K Reference 7270 today?

Thanks

Figure multichannel amps at a minimum of $100/channel, with a premium often added for especially desirable brand/reputation/features.

BKC 7270-S2 should go for $800-$900, but shipping will kill you (and possibly the amp as well!). The amp's design is tried and true, but it does tend to exhibit thermal issues which cook the electrolytics on the amp boards (some have also reported the tantalums go bad). In B&K gear, I'd advise the 200.7 (either original or S2) over the older but very similar 7200 series units.

Suggest you keep your eyes peeled for an ATI unit. The Crestron version CNAMPX-7X200 is comparable to the B&K, though better in specs and with a more robust design and better electronic build, IMO. It'll go for a bit less ($600 isn't unusual), but shipping will be substantial (amp is close to100lbs) and you'll need a separate Crestron power supply ($15-$20) to manually power on the amp (no standard triggering).

Good luck with your search.
