I think you got it right with your earlier post - Uncle Tupelo Americana starting to morph into pop. I like it just as much as their later albums, no matter what the critics say. A question of taste, since I like Americana, and Tweedy can also get a little full of himself sometime. When does experimentation turn into wankery? Listen to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and you might have an opinion.
But on balance, Wilco is simply a great band, and they'll probably be making great records for years to come.

One of my favorite live bands. They tour like mad. Just received their latest, in red vinyl. This record debuted on itunes at #13, quite the accomplishment for a band on an independent label. Can't say enough about this group.

I just got a copy of Stan Freeburg presents The United States of America.
From the 60's. Not very nice to Native Americans but overall funny.
Many views of our politics at the time. Not much different from today.
