B B King - My Kind of Blues Crown Records Otis Rush- Live Cambridge 1973 Rockbeat records Jimmy Dawkins- All For Business Delmark Records
Albert King/Otis Rush- Door to Door Chess Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup - Look on Yonder Wall Delmark Lots of great stuff on the Delmark label
Jimmy Reed- Lost in the Shuffle 32 Blues Records A good compilation And every time I listen to Jimmy Reed, I have to listen to more Eddie Taylor Eddie Taylor- I Feel So Bad Hightone Records
I started a book on Muddy Waters, "I Can't Be Satisfied " So Muddy Waters- The Chess Box, disc one 1947-1954 Love the early stuff.
That's a great book. The Howlin' Wolf one, Moanin' At Midnight, is a nice side-by-side read, IMO. And obviously putting his Chess Box into the mix, as well.
Agreed. While I really like Johnny Winter and Michael Bloomfield, Muddy's stuff with them didn't compare to his early music.
Duck Baker There's Something For Everyone in America another session coming out of Stephan Grossman's guitar workshop
Alabama Slim, "Blue & Lonesome" Music Maker Relief Foundation CD Also saw him perform live Friday at Carrboro, NC "Freight Train Blues Concerts" weekly event.
Paul Oscher - Knockin' On The Devil's Door* *house empty, beverage cold, and volume set to 'healthy'.
Leroy Carr and Scrapper Blackwell - Vol. 1: 1928-1934 disc 4 of 4 JSP Records A very big influence on Robert Johnson's music and vocal style. I bought this after reading "Escaping The Delta: Robert Johnson and the Invention of the Blues " by Elijah Wald which is a thoroughly researched history of the Blues and a great book on Robert Johnson. It may change your perception of pre-war delta blues men. Highly Recommended !
