It's easy to see and hear why his music is covered so often. Spirituals are supposed to stir the soul, he comforts the distressed with every word and note.

Was a gap in the Heat collection. Filled it a couple of weeks ago when I came across a decent pressing.

I don't post as often as I should but listening to the (under appreciated?) Earl Hooker I had to

Earl Hooker - The Moon is Rising
    Arhoolie Records

Solid disc. I am liking this one better than the oft recommended "Two Bugs and a Roach" also on arhoolie. Plus this has live Earl Hooker. Highly Recommended

Earl is waaaaay under appreciated, IMO.

My copy of John Lee's Urban Blues has a couple of bonus tracks with Earl, including this one. Funky.

Since you can't have too much Muddy, I would highly recommend

    Muddy Waters- One More Mile
    Chess Collectibles vol. 1
    Two disc set

This is alternative takes and material that did not make the Chess Box set. Great selection. But what really makes this set special are the 11 tracks from 1972 recorded for a Switzerland radio broadcast. Muddy with Mojo Buford and Louis Meyers acoustic set. This could be released as a stand alone album. And I prefer it to Folk Singer.
    A Muddy must have
