Today's British Invasion Playlist

Great tune, wish I still had the old 45.

I have the Camper Van Beethoven version on CD and LP.

BTW, I saw the Smithereens a few months back and they turn the end of their long show (3 hours) into a sing-along with occasional nods to The Carpenters. For you kids out there, the Carpenters are decidedly not Brit Invasion, but my parents loved 'em.

Back OT, this one by the Rolling Stones is quite the rocking ditty (if it were one second longer than 1:39 your brain would explode):

Merv Griffin introduces Freddi And The Dreamers. (never occurred to me until now, but -- apart from the kooky "laugh" -- Freddie's vocals sound a bit like Jimmie Dale Gilmore)

It was love @ first listen for me. One of my all-time favorite numbers from any era, any performer.

Rivals "Waterloo Sunset" for that particularly British melancholy mixed with longing. Does not hurt that my wife also loves this number.
