I wasn't aware that the SFSO had a working relationship with Metallica. :)
Ray

The album is called S&M - Symphony and Metallica. It's well worth getting hold of. The music is surprisingly mature.

Other bands that have done similar projects are:

Procul Harum with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra

Deep Purple - Concerto For Group and Orchestra, conducted by Malcolm Arnold.

Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Centre Of The Earth with orchestra and choir.

There are several more.

I have the DP and RW albums and was aware of PH/ESO - all prog rock bands. Metallica just seems a bizarre choice as a classical partner. ...maybe I don't know enough about Metallica. :)
