I talked about that in THIS POST. Basically to me it's all College Radio. I don't mean Classical or Jazz, or Blues, or Bluegrass, stuff that's supposed to be "edifying" broadcast from a college that happens to hold an FCC license. I mean what college kids want to play and hear.
No Top 40. No Dad Rock. Just whatever. My station stopped doing rap 24/7 cuz the kids didn't like it and the DJ's weren't students - guys from the community taking up studio time. So I'd listen and noticed all the girl / surf / psychedelic influences - but better than the originals. But it's whatever you pick it to be. Here's the timeline I stick pretty close to:
1980 - 1989: College Radio
1990 - 1999: Alternative
2000 - 2005: Gray Area
2006 - Present: Indie
Great band! I think a new album will be out soon.
Your Friday Flashback -
Oops - I posted this yesterday. Belated like.
Just saw Courtney & Kurt at the Showbox a couple of weeks ago (also Bob Mould and Vic Bondi the night prior at the Crocodile). Looking forward to Filthy Friends and First Aid Kit in January.
Song from some young guys in my hometown of Adelaide.
Had almost forgotten about Sleeper!
