Christine Collister: Blue Aconite
A strong album with covers of material by Jesse Winchester, Richard Thompson, Tom Waits, etc. A powerful singer, that I saw many times when she was in the Richard Thompson Band. Recommended.

She was with him here in Ottawa when he played Barrymore's. A CD was released, pretty good sound too.

Some quick research prior to my reply indicates he's most likely of Turkish/Russian Jewish extraction. That's what I get for not reading the initial post of this thread. "English" in this case refers to England and its neighbors in the UK, not US English. Thanks for the humorous heads-up.

The Saw Doctors: Sing a Powerful Song. How was i late to the party with this band? I'm glad my cousin turned me onto them a few years back. This retrospective belongs in every Irish folk rock music lovers collection. The Irish REM, in a good way.
