I go back and forth with Mancini. Great music, is it "Jazz"? Was it written in a Jazz idiom? I personally find it very appealing. The Peter Gunn music is compelling evidence.

I am finding the composer and band leader Bill Holman to be an interest musical figure. The line up on this is a solid aggregation of "west coast" musicians, however one stands out...Dudley Moore! I know he played piano, and he played it quiet well. I'm not up on when this was recorded, was it pre-"10" & Arthur? Or later? Just curious. OR is it a second Dudley Moore just skulking around?

Thanks. I think I'll spring for the Ellington and Monk London Sessions.

That one brings back memories. When I was probably 8 years old that was one of the handful of albums that my parents had, and I would play it, especially Fallout, with that walking bass line opening, cool flute, and a sharp trumpet solo -- it was very probably the first jazz I ever heard, although I didn't recognize it as such . . . ;)

Not sure who Our World music is or what the source is on this album but it was 1.00 at the thrift store today. Sounds pretty good.
