In the late 60s or early 70s there was a Toad Hall near me on Sheridan Rd. In Wilmette, IL that was a high end audio equipment store. I could not afford to even go inside, they only lasted a few years. Had forgotten about that store until this reference.

Happened to me many times! When each of the last two stores closed, they had sales that went from 30%-90% off. I spent a lot of money during those sales, but beefed-up the collection quite a bit and even got some cool display items for the cave (but no neon from there :( ).

I saw that show a couple of times when it ran in New York. Arvell Shaw was in the pit band. The big sound of his bass was amazing. I had never heard the bass sound that big before. It was really a revelation.

Started with some spritely morning jazz on WBGO. They pull the bigger energy stuff to get us going.

And check out Culture Shock, the record store I previously posted about. Also has stacks of audio gear. There are a couple others also, but they don't have that 70's vibe going.
Toad Hall Records has a website with pics of the place inside and out. Neat place.

I don't recall who ripped it, but I played the hell out of this when I first DL'd it.

When I went, I didn't know that he was going to be in the band. I only recall seeing him the second time I went. I don't know if he was there the first time.

Wow, those pictures bring back memories! When that place first opened, it was by far the best record store in town.
