Today's Krautrock Playlist

A “Laugh-In” reference! First time I’ve seen one at AK:thumbsup:

And a German "Laugh In" reference just for the Krautrock thread.

I wasn't there, but I hear tell Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser invited many german psych artists into a studio with the promise of organized acid parties only to disappear months later with the tapes and mix the proceedings down with Dieter Dierks into the COSMIC JOKERS records.

The story goes, Manuel Göttsching walked into a record store and heard this new psych band playing only to discover it was him with his picture on the cover!

Göttsching eventually sued which lead to Kaiser fleeing the country in 1975.

But in spite of it all:

The Cosmic Jokers
Galactic Supermarket
(1974)

...remains nonetheless some damned fine listening.

I already had about half of what is on this but it's still a nice comp.

I guess there is a vol. 1, but I haven't ran across it.

Damenbart-Impressionen, 1971

Ahh...Damenbart.

Here is a another DAMENBART release, a 3" CD...

These Damenbart CDs are an interesting kraut sidenote.

At the time of release in the 90s, they were played off as long lost recordings of an unknown krautrock band.

They are actually a side project of HIRSCHE NICHT AUFS SOFA alumni, and prime jokester, ACHIM FLAAM.

Aside from the dubious history of these recordings, they are excellent and a welcomed addition to my HNAS collection.
Along with BRIGITTE AND THE HANSEN EXPERIENCE and ROWENTA/KHAN!

Thanks for the background. I'll check those others out.
